2011 NSHA TOURNAMENT RULES
1.
Points - a
team will receive 10 pts for a win, 7 pts for up to 7 goal
differential, and 3 pts for a shut out for a maximum of 20 pts. A
team will receive 5 pts for a tie.
2.
In the round
robin games a coin flip at the beginning of each game will determine the home
team; the home team will have choice of goal defended and playerÕs bench. When
the quarterfinals start the higher seeded team has choice of goal defended and
playerÕs bench.
3.
If a tie occurs
in any of the Quarters, Semi, or Finals, a sudden death 10-minute overtime(s) will be played until there is a
winner.
4.
Periods—3
periods of 10 minutes each with clock stopping. Clock will run any time a goal
differential of eight (8) is reached. 1½ minutes intermission between
periods.
5.
Ties for
positioning in the playoff rounds are broken as follows; Head to Head, Goals
against, Goals for.
6.
There will be 1
time-out per game allowed and 1 in over-time.
7.
No player may be
added to the roster once it is turned in at registration.
8.
If games are running
behind the next game will start 5 minutes after the preceding game.
9.
Icing/clearing
will be from the defensive dots.
10.
Two line passes
and lobs are permitted.
11.
Games will be played
with a delayed off sides in effect.
12.
Gloves must be
Street Hockey, Ice Hockey, or Lacrosse gloves (padded). No garden or bike
gloves.
13.
Elbow pads and
protective cups are recommended but not required. (@ Monroe, GTHA, and Marlton
they are required)
14.
All calls by the
referee will be final. All protests must be made before play is continued.
15.
Sticks—No
aluminum sticks will be permitted; sticks must be street hockey or ABS
16.
Penalties—
Minor—1
minute, Major—3 minutes, and Misconduct -5—Minutes.
17.
** A penalty will now result in the face-off taking place deep in the penalized teamÕs zone.
18.
Three minor
penalties or 1 major penalty=exclusion from the remainder of that game.
19.
Fighting will not be tolerated: Fighting
- 1st offense = 2 games, - 2nd offense = 4 games, - 3rd offense = suspension
for the remainder of the season. (EXCEPTION: Freshman 1st fight exclusion for the entire tournament season).
Any player or coach who enters the playing area during an altercation without
permission from a referee will be ejected and suspended for the remainder of
the tournament.
20.
Intent to
injure / Match Penalty = an automatic (minimum) 3 game suspension & review
by the NSHA Board
21.
Conduct of Players, Coaches and Fans: Abusive language by a player, coach or fan
towards a referee, opposing player, another spectator, or any tournament
official will not be tolerated. The
guilty party will be asked to leave the premises, if they refused penalties
will be given to the team in question, or possibly forfeit the team out of the
tournament with no refund.
22.
Forfeits, if a
team receives a forfeit they will receive a minimum of 14 points, and
possibly more to be determined by tournament officials. The team that forfeits
will receive a fine of $50 payable to the hosting tournament. The fine must be paid before the next
tournament. The board can review
this forfeit.
23.
There will be a 10-minuite-foreit
time.
24.
Alcoholic
beverages are strictly prohibited.
25.
The NSHA
committee will strictly enforce these rules and rules from meeting notes.
26.
Double hand up is
a penalty
27.
Double stick up
is a stoppage, not a penalty
28.
B player moves up
to A must play A for that tournament. A cannot play B.
29.
A player cannot
play on two teams within the same division.
30.
Referring—Each
team will have Captains or Assistants—A referee must discuss a call with
the Captain/Assistants when the Captain or Assistant asks. A coach must use his Captains and
Assistants for questioning calls.
31.
A player can move
up to the next (age) level if there is a shortage of players. The player cannot play on two teams in the same division. Player
must be of the oldest age - (ie: 9 yr old Peng to play Beaver, 12 yr old Beaver to play Cadet)
32.
Code of Conduct
for Coaches, Players and Others.
a.
1st
time—1 minute bench minor, 2nd
time - Off the bench for that game (ejection)
b.
2 game ejections
= 1 game suspension - - an addtÕl game ejection = 3
game suspension
c.
Any additional
game suspensions = will result in a season long suspension.
Remember: A suspension requirement is that the next game the
player/coach suspended must sign the score sheet
33.
*** COACHES
– Code of Conduct. – Any
Coach on your bench must be on a
roster. Each Coach (Head and/or Assistant) must
have signed and submitted the Coaches Code of Conduct.
34.
Four coaches per
bench.
35. Anyone harassing players
,refs, or coaches during the games will be asked to leave or Police will
be called to remove them
36. No
Òcrease violationsÓ will be called. Goals will count if an offensive player is
in the crease when a goal is scored unless the referee calls a penalty for
interference with the goalkeeper.
NOTE: IF
A COACH, PLAYER OR OTHERS ARE EJECTED, THAT COACH, PLAYER, OR OTHERS MUST LEAVE
THE RINK AREA. IF THIS RULE IS NOT
FOLLOWED THE POLICE WILL BE CALLED.
